Thank you for a great season!

Pizza party to be held from 2:30-3:30 on Friday, Oct. 28. Please pay $3.00 to Coach Baker or White. Please return clean uniforms to Coach Baker ASAP.

All team members invited to come to Cranbrook to watch League Meet on Oct. 25.

Comparing times at different courses, on different days:

  • Unofficially, we are suspecting that the Catalpa (Berkley) course might be a hair longer than Founders. If Founders is 2.0 miles, then Catalpa might be 2.1 miles. (In 2016, we don't run at Catalpa.)

  • The Possum Hollow course at Kensington is the most difficult that we run on. It has the highest hill, and as the Farmington High cross country coaches tell us, it does not give the same energy return on each stride. It is just slower. Expect times there to reflect this.

  • Officially, DCD has a shorter course. Their official announced distance is 1.89 miles.

  • We have not run at Warner or East in a long time, so we do not have a sense of their courses, yet.

Notes:

  • Boys will run first in every race this year (it alternates).

  • New rule in 2016: 6th graders are full members of the team (previously, their running was called an "exhibition event"). 6th graders will run in the races and count in the scoring. This also means that 6th-grade runners could run in the "Top 7" races held at the County Meet and the League Meet.

  • All runners will get a chance to participate at the South Division Meet, to be held Thursday, October 20. There will (likely) be four races: Top 7 Boys at 4:30 then Top 7 Girls and then Open Boys. The Open Girls will start just a few minutes after the boys. This gives girls their own race, but we can't wait for the boys to finish or the girls might not start until 6:00, and several teams still have to travel home.

  • The South Division Meet (Oct. 20) will be the last meet of the season for runners in the Open category.

  • At the League Meet, to be held October 25, only the top seven boys and girls from each school will run. We would prefer something different, but the North Division schools will also be present, and the Cranbrook course is too tight for so many runners. Everyone is welcome to come and watch.

  • There will be no practice on Friday, October 21.

  • We will have a pizza party to end the season. Date to be announced.
